I began working with Linda Singer in August of 2009, two weeks following the loss of my father a professional musician. I was preparing for my father’s celebration of life memorial, with the hope I could somehow perform a piano piece in his honor. I was lucky to find Linda; she immediately accepted me as a student and took on the project. We had 6 weeks to prepare, our song selection, Fur Elise.
Throughout the process, Linda’s commitment and dedication to me and to our project was undeniable. She made herself available throughout every week, outlined each lesson and provided various materials and practice exercises to develop my skills. She has a gift for teaching and she shares this with her students. She possesses great patience and a natural ability to guide her students to effectively learn and understand music. Linda Singer was able to break down a complete classical piece to attainable sections that made it easy to practice and learn. Linda’s teaching style is focused, motivating and encouraging. She knew the personal importance of our goal and because of her patience and determination, we were successful. We accomplished what I had hoped. I was able to perform Fur Elise to a roomful of family, friends and life long musicians and most important to me, I was able to pay tribute to my father.
Linda’s talent and love for the piano and music is apparent and it comes through in her teaching. She is positive, with a genuine interest and concern for her students.
